Frontal Systems Behavior Scale (FrSBe)

Purpose: To assess behaviour related to frontal systems damage

The Frontal Systems Behavior Scale (FrSBe) provides a means to identify and quantify behavioural problems caused by frontal lobe damage so those problems may be targeted for treatment.        

It provides a brief, reliable, and valid measure of three frontal systems behavioural syndromes:

1. Apathy
2. Disinhibition
3. Executive dysfunction

Two test booklets are available: self-rating and rating by a family member or caregiver. Two profile forms (Self and Family) allow comparisons of behaviours pre- and post-injury/illness.

It quantifies behavioural changes over time by including both baseline (retrospective) and current assessments of behaviour. The FrSBe includes a total score as well as scores on three subscales that correspond to the three frontal systems behavioural syndromes.
