Purpose: Evaluates acute and chronic post traumatic symptomatology.

Candidates: 8-16 years of age

Administration: 15-20 minutes — individual or group

The TSCC is a self-report measure of post traumatic stress and related psychological symptomatology in children ages 8-16 years who have experienced traumatic events (e.g., physical or sexual abuse, major loss, natural disaster, or witness violence). The 54-item TSCC includes two validity scales (Underresponse and Hyperresponse), six clinical scales (Anxiety, Depression, Anger, Posttraumatic Stress, Dissociation, and Sexual Concerns) and eight critical items.

The alternate 44-item version (TSCC-A) is identical to the TSCC, except it makes no reference to sexual issues (and has no Sexual Concerns scale) and includes seven Critical Items.

The TSCC was standardised on a group of over 3,000 inner-city, urban, and suburban children and adolescents from the general population. Data from trauma and child abuse centres are also provided.

Trauma Symptom Checklist for Children Unlimited Scoring Program CD ROM (TSCC-SP)
This program automates scoring when the client's responses to the TSCC (54 items) or the TSCC-A (44 items) are entered by the clinician. The software generates a score summary report for the six Clinical scales, the two Validity scales, and the Critical Items. The program will also generate a graphic profile of the results. The summary report and profile can be printed by any Windows®-compatible printer or exported for word processing. Other program features include the Windows interface with button bar, pull-down menus, pop-up dialog boxes, and edit/paste options.
