Places For Thinking

Author(s): Francesca Partridge, Franck Dubuc, Laurance Splitter and Tim Sprod

Publisher: ACER Press, 1999

Designed for children in the first years of school, the series consists of four visually and verbally challenging books that provide a collection of questions and ideas that all children should find intriguing, fascinating, puzzling and worthwhile.

The accompanying manual helps teachers and parents to identify the philosophical ideas that emerge from the stories, and to guide children in an investigation of these ideas.

Working as a ‘community of inquiry’, children explore the ideas that stimulate them and develop tools for shaping the direction of the discussion. Through thinking together, children learn to think individually.

Complete Kit includes a Teacher’s Manual and one of each On a Plain, In a Field, In a Tree and On a Path
