Progressive Achievement Tests in Reading - PAT-R Revised

Purpose: To assess reading comprehension and word knowledge, to monitor progress over time, and to provide teachers with objective information for setting realistic goals and planning effective work programs.
Administration: Comprehension: 40 minutes Vocabulary: 25 minutes - group

Assessment Content: Comprehension - students read a range of fiction and non-fiction comprehension passages and answer multiple choice questions based on each passage. Vocabulary - students select the most suitable word from five alternatives to replace an underlined word within a sentence.
Test Format:
- eight reusable test forms - four comprehension and four vocabulary test forms arranged in increasing level of difficulty
- a range of culturally varied texts, containing a balanced representation of male and female characters
- multiple choice items
- separate answer sheet for each test form to facilitate administration
- machine scored through ACER's Test Scoring Service or handscored
- blackline student report masters in Teacher's Manual.
